One of the best kept secrets of the Mediterranean, the island of Lesvos is an unspoilt paradise of tiny Greek villages, rolling hills and abundant olive groves. The charming hill town of Mólyvos with its vine-covered cobbled streets and picturesque harbour is an ideal base from which to discover this beautiful island.

On these holidays there is a choice of two guided walks of varying difficulty each day.

 

ITINERARY

Day 1: arrival day

Day 2: from Mólyvos wander along winding donkey trails through the hills to the seaside town of Petra, dominated by the Church of the Sweet Kisses.

Day 3: considered a classic walk by the local islanders, we follow ancient trails through the olive groves to visit three historic monasteries before arriving at the spectacular Gulf of Kalloní.

Day 4: visit the tiny hill-top town of Lafiónas and then enjoy a stunning panoramic trail around the mountain top, before descending to the seaside town of Anaxos.

Day 5: free day - spend the day exploring Mólyvos, visiting its many shops and tavernas, or enjoy a relaxing day at the hotel or at the idyllic hot springs on Eftaloú beach

Day 6: explore the olive groves of the interior following pleasant old routes between villages and tiny churches. Visit the ancient bridge of Kremastí and the olive oil making town of Ag.Paraskeví.

Day 7: take a boat trip to the tiny quaint harbour of Skala Sikaminias for a leisurely stroll along the Aegean coastline enjoying stunning views of the Turkish mountains.

Day 8: departure day

Local transport to and from walks:
Local transport is not included in the cost of your holiday. Please allow €75 (approx £60) per week for local transport (payable locally in Euros), excluding your free day.

Footpath information

 

Easier Walks: 5 to 7 miles, generally on good paths and tracks, with up to 800ft of ascent in a day.

Harder Walks: 6 to 12 miles, sometimes over rougher terrain, with up to 1,300ft of ascent in a day.
